There are several styles of flat-head bolts for attachment of elevator buckets to the belt.
• “Norway” flat-head with square nut at base of flange.
• ”Fanged” for better grip into belt,
   Blunt Fanged or Pointed Fanged
• Flat-head with straight
   or star screw slot.
• Most bolts, washers, and nuts are available in zinc plated carbon steel or stainless steel

Lap joint Butt joint

There are several methods of splicing elevator belts: Vulcanized, lap, butt, and mechanical or “Dura” splice. The vulcanized splice requires specialized equipment and procedures, and will not be described here.
Lap joint — ends of belt are overlapped and bolted. Overlap should be a minimum of 3 bucket spaces, with bolts.
Butt Joint — ends of belt are connected end-to-end and fastened with a belt splice (several types are available), with an overlaid section of belt providing additional strength. The added butt splice belt should provide a minimum of 3 bucket spaces with bolts.
Bar, Angle or Mechanical fastened with structural bar, angle, or purchased fastening device, with bolts through both ends of the belt.

Mechanical splices

Some of the mechanical belt fasteners available: Dura-Clamp, Maxi-Splice™, Dura-Splice™

Bar or Angle Splice Bar splice Mechanical Splice Mechanical splice

Dura-Splice™ and similar splices are made in short segments which are combined to match belt width.
